Therapeutic Indications:

Atopic, Contact, nummular, generalized exfoliative and Seborrheic dermatitis; inflammatory dermatoses; Lichen Planus (facial and intertriginous areas); Polymorphous light eruption; Anogenital Pruritus; Pruritus senilis; Psoriasis (facial and intertriginous areas); Xerosis (inflammatory phase); Alopecia areata; Granuloma annulare; Keloids; Lichen simplex chronicus; Lichen striatus; Lupus erythematosus (discoid and subacute cutaneous); Pretibial Myxedema; Necrobiosis lipoidica diabeticorum; Pemphigoid; Pityriasis rosea; Sarcoidosis and Sunburn

Mechanism of Action:

Topical corticosteroids have anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive properties. May depress the formation, release, and activity of endogenous chemical mediators of inflammation (kinins, histamine, liposomal enzymes, prostaglandins) through the induction of phospholipase A inhibitory proteins (lipocortins) and sequential inhibition of the release of arachidonic acid.

Method of Administration:

Apply sparingly. Avoid mucous membranes; it is recommended to avoid application to the eyes, face, underarms, and groin (including diaper area). Do not wrap, cover, or bandage affected area.

Allergy to corticosteroids, Infection at treatment site, Skin atrophy, Diabetes mellitus, Cataracts, Glaucoma, Tuberculosis

Interactions:

Aldesleukin: Corticosteroids may diminish the antineoplastic effect of Aldesleukin. Risk X: Avoid combination

CYP3A4 Inhibitors (Strong): May increase the serum concentration of Mometasone (Topical). Risk C: Monitor therapy

Pregnancy and Lactation:

Studies in animals have shown that topical corticosteroids are systemically absorbed and may cause fetal abnormalities, especially when used in large amounts, with occlusive dressings, for prolonged periods of time, or if the more potent agents are used. Topical corticosteroids, especially the more potent ones, should not be used extensively, in large amounts, or for protracted periods in pregnant patients or in patients who are planning to become pregnant (Adequate and well-controlled studies in humans have not been done).

It is not known whether Mometasone are distributed into breast milk. However, problems in humans have not been documented.

Warning and Precaution:

Checking with physician or dentist if symptoms do not improve within 1 week or condition becomes worse.

Not using tight-fitting diapers or plastic pants on a child if the diaper area is being treated with this medication

Adverse Reactions:

Burning, dryness, irritation, itching, or redness, increased redness or scaling of skin lesions; skin rash

Storage:

Store below 30ºC and protect from freezing.
